Valkyrie Profile: Lenneth (Square-Enix) is the PlayStation Portable (PSP) version of the original 'Valkyrie Profile,' that had long been absent from the market and considered one of the rarest games to own. Valkyrie Profile: Lenneth was developed by the Japanese developer TOSE and published by Square-Enix. The PSP version has made no changes to the gameplay of the original English version, but cinematic effects of the original version are intact. Stunning full motion videos (otherwise, known as CG sequences) have been added to story events in the game, replacing all original animated scenes.
Based on Norse mythology, players take on the role of a Valkyrie named Lenneth, known as the Chooser of the Slain. Through her, players recruit and prepare the souls of fallen warriors for a final apocalyptic battle between two kingdoms. Along the way, she uncovers the tragic events of her own hidden past, which is shown as a prelude to the story.
The original Playstation version of Valkyrie Profile was well received by both popular critics, such as GameSpot and IGN, and gamers. For the stunning PSP comeback, gamers and reviewers alike praised the improvement of cutscenes, additions of fmvs, the captivating music, and keeping the best of the original game, such as gameplay, battle sequence, and story. The game's score has ranged from 7 - 8.5 out of 10, a respectable score for today's role-playing game. Though the game may require more time than other games, due to the length of some scenes, it's has been known as one of the more memorable RPGs out there.
The game also has a prequel called, "Valkyrie Profile 2: Silmeria" released for the PlayStation 2. Don't miss out on this rare opportunity to experience the best of Valkyrie Profile: Lenneth on the PSP.
