Electronic Arts brings everyone’s favorite digital denizens back in SIMS 2 for the DS. Once again, players must guide their electronic characters through life, directing them in everything from hobbies to education to work. The DS version of the SIMS 2 is a bit unique in that it allows gamers to take direct control of one Sim and explore the town, interact with others, and more. Players can customize this character in a number of ways thanks to the game’s huge number of creation options. Once they’ve created their character, the storyline of SIMS 2 begins. The character’s car breaks down just outside of Strangetown, the main location of the game. Once players befriend the mechanic and convince him to fix up their car, the game begins in earnest at the curio shop next door. Here, players will answer a number of questions that determine their Sims’ personality. Then it’s off to make friends, influence people, and move in to a huge mansion. Much like the other SIMS games, players will need to make sure their character’s basic requirements are met. They have to eat, sleep, and even use the bathroom. Failing to meet these needs can lead to death, but players have the option of bargaining with the reaper for a good reincarnation or even returning to Strangetown as a ghost. Gamers who love the SIMS and everything about them will love the twists SIMS 2 for the DS takes and will whittle away the hours playing it.
