A snowboarding/skiing title, the game provides several modes of play, many different challenges, and hundreds of tricks. The single player mode begins with players creating their character from a number of options and deciding if they want to be a snowboarder or skier. Once they’ve decided, the begin as a novice in their field. To gain fame and move up in rank, players must accomplish a number of course-specific goals like grabbing a number of items, executing a specific number of tricks, scoring a huge number of points, or touch the snow as little as possible. Two players can go head to head on these courses as well. Like previous entries in the title, SSX ON TOUR includes monster tricks. These giant tricks allow players to really rack up the points and see impressive visuals. The inclusion of skiing for the first time in an SSX title opens up a huge new number of aerial acrobatics for players to master. Another addition is that the game doesn’t take place on a closed course other boarders and skiers are on the mountain as well, creating live obstacles.
